How it works
Until recently, if you had condensation inside your double glazed sealed units, which can devalue your property and make it feel and look old and tired, the only option to improve it was to replace the unit at great expense, sometimes involving redecorating and all the mess that entails. Now - thanks to a remarkable breakthrough in double-glazing repairs – you can save hundreds or even thousands of pounds and clear the mist from your windows, making them as clear as the day they were installed – at a fraction of the price for new units. Professional double-glazing companies are calling it a “miracle” technique. Developed in America some years ago and now proven to work in tens of thousands of homes, it is available locally for you through the trade’s source for double glazing units, Window Frame Company under our 'mistbegone' brand name. This new process is not only cheaper, but is also quick, with your units repaired in less than an hour without all the hassle and mess that replacement causes.

What causes misting in your windows?
To understand how 'mistbegone' works, you need to know why your units have misted in the first place. A combination of atmospheric pressure and sunlight combine to allow moisture to seep through tiny gaps in your double glazing. The majority of misted double glazed windows are found on the sunny side of the property. The reason for this is simple. When the sun shines directly onto your double glazing, it warms the air between the panes of glass, making it rise and expand. This increases the pressure on the glass and seals. When it cools, the pressure goes the other way, a bit like a pump coming on and off. Normally windows that face the sun will mist up before other windows in your house begin to suffer, because they face the heat of the sun every day. Manufacturers understand this problem and put a moisture absorbing material, a silicon gel, in the spacer bar between the panes of glass in your windows. This material has the job of chemically bonding with water molecules to stop water from appearing as mist. Over time, the silicon gradually gets saturated and can absorb no more water. When this happens, the moisture evaporates into the air inside your double-glazing and turns into the condensation that causes misting on your windows. In the early stages of failure, a mist may appear and then disappear depending upon the weather as the moisture evaporates and then condenses again on your windows, annoying you with its unpredictable appearances and disappearances. As the problem gets worse, the moisture may start to leave unsightly deposits on your windows that spoil the appearance of your home. When friends come around, you can be left feeling unhappy that your windows look dirty even when you’ve cleaned them carefully, because the mess is on the inside – beyond your reach. The other problem with misted windows is that they don’t provide the same insulating properties that double glazing is famous for. The water inside your double glazing allows the heat inside your property to escape, increasing your heating bills.

But now there is a solution…

The secret that clears your double glazed windows…
The solution to clearing your windows is very simple, practical and effective. Our technician will install tiny valves on the outside pane of your windows that lets them “breathe”. As part of the process, he’ll also clean between the panes of your double glazing to help restore them to the way they looked when first installed. This means that when your windows heat up, the moisture is expelled through the valves, allowing your windows to naturally vent the water back out as moisture in the air. After a few weeks, your windows will have dried out and you’ll be able to look out through clear windows again. Once cleared, your windows not only look better, but they work better too. Free of moisture, your windows will insulate your property far more effectively – so that you enjoy reduced heating bills once more.
